Holler.

I never thought I would say this

takeaim:

but women might actually be more drama than men.  I would just like to remind everyone that I am figuring this out post-sorority living.  I’m not sure if this is a world worth living in.

After being the dorm mom/RA to 50 women at UT Austin, I whole-heartedly agree with this. And I’m ok with our sex’s tendency for drama, except when it means nothing gets done at work because there are no men around to stop me from worrying about the boss’s LIFE-SUCKING attitude. Hah. There.

My Chinese is not good enough for my coworkers to understand me and their English is not good enough for me to understand them.  How is this supposed to work?

The language of love, the way forward.

Reasons I LOATHE my subletter: Part II

takeaim:

After working out, he walks straight into the kitchen and sticks his grubby little paws into the ice maker.  Gross.  I threw out all the ice and am starting from scratch.

Is it still appropriate at 27 to put up little laminated signs around the house that read “please wash your hands after using the toilet or gym”?

30 minutes

My boss allowed me to come in 30 minutes later today and now I’m at home not sure what to do with my precious half hour. Is organizing my work folder off limits? Teaching jobs have given me the time I need for this. Not this one. I have meetings in 4 different boroughs at all times of the day. I want to be able to pull out my neat work folder, WABAM, at any one of them. Is that asking too much?

p.s. I refuse to work at home.

Monsters of Folk - Temezcal (from the album Monsters of Folk)

If you like a good pop record, than you’re like me and you’ll probably like this one. Monsters of Folk is My Morning Jacket, M. Ward, and Bright Eyes. These guys combine for an album with pop sensibility. Melodies, meloncholy, sunniness, spacey, sleepy, psychadelic, the south, the south west, and at times… Marving Gaye, Hank Williams, Fleetwood Mac, Beach Boys.. Thanks for the heads up Chuks!

Although I do have to say despite this being a very good album there are some songs that are bit Hanson for my taste. Just sayin.

Anyhow, because of the diversity of this album I think its fair to make an exception. My next two posts will be from the album to highlight this fact. Steel drums? Really?

More to come.

Word.

Swine dream

In my dream last night, I met up with all my old college residents to complete a secret mission involving diving into a waterfall… except the moment I showed up to the secret location, they all developed swine flu.  Am I the piggy in this scenario?
